Helper layer imports into wrong position

Helper layer imports into wrong position

Postby marc » Thu Apr 26, 2007 6:04 pm

I've created a very simple test scene in Max. The camera imports to AE correctly. But when I import the helper layer into AE (paste the keyframes onto a precomp or layer), the position and orientation is totally off. With a lot of trial and error I determined the (approx) correct position, and could not figure out a correlation between the offset. (the orientation is definitely 90 degr (x) off - the rest seems random). Any simple stupid mistake I might be making? I'm simply doing all the steps in the help file.

Thanks,
Marc

Marc,

Two quick things to check:

1) The camera type matches up.
2) If Helper Layer is attached to another object, but you're not importing these parents, make sure "Maintain Hierarchy" is turned OFF.

Please check those and let me know if that changes anything.

Thanks,

Matt

Thanks, Matt.

The hierarchy was the problem. I unlinked the layer in Max (wasn't necessary), unchecked "maintain hierarchy" and it came in absolutely correct.
