some issues with Vexus

Postby ignacio » Tue Mar 12, 2019 2:10 am

Hello, I just started using Vexus.

I come from a long experience with RPManager, and I think vexus has really nice and new aproach.
There is some issues I encountered while working with it in some projects, I'm not sure if it's me trying to do something wrong or it's a bug, if so I beg your pardon.

groups: Are a bit unstable when mooving them around, they start to miss align, or just drop everything it was inside when mooving them within a square selection.
Also about groups could be awesome to have colors!

Light select: when selecting lights from layer, the buton " include child layers" desn't seem to work.

Multimate elements ( vray ) : when rendering with vexus I don't know what happens but VRFB starting to show duplicities of the multimates... it gets very messy fast. ( haven't check if happens with other elements too )

Folder Creation:
This one is very critical for me if 1 shot has 2 passes, the custom folder creation for this second pass is not generated.

Thankyou!

I wanted to add something else.

There is only possibility of 2 decimal in the Noise Threshold parameter of vray. 0.01 is the minimum possible. I think sometimes you sould like to have 0.015 for instance. or lower, and now its not possible.

thankyou.

Might be that is temporary, but the Backburner submitter sometimes refuses to find the Backburner manager.
Is just me or other people is also suffering from it?

Adding support for controlling the color of groups has been a high request and will be added in the next major release of Vexus.

yep i also found the issue with controlling the noise controller on vray.

won't go down any lower than 2 decimal places, and defaults to 0 (think default should be 0.01, with production aiming for 0.005)

Sorry for the missunderstanding.

I was too used to RPM. so there was some issues that might be my lack of understanding of Vexus.
Things I could solve so far:

MultimateElements: I think I solved it by clicking "delete elements" in the pass. ( sorry this is lack of knowledge ) I think they don't stack any more.
Folder creation: This also is solved, I was so used that RPM was creating the folders at once, but vexus only does that for the first Pass, althoug If I submit to backburner all of them are nicely created. Sorry! my fault again.

The other things still are unresolved, or I didn't had the time to test them again deeply.

But thankyou for the feedback!
BTW when is 2020 version coming? :)

The children lights, still didn't have time to fix it. I'll give a check again.
Also the groups spilling all the things inside still happens.

btw I have a new one. If backburner Monitor is open. when submitting several passes at some point it gives a maxscript error.
--unknown property: "includeMaps" in undefined

its an error on the line (

-- create Backburner job
local job = bb_manager.newjob()
job IncludeMaps = job_include_maps
....
...

A select all passes in the Submitter tool, could be awesome. :)

+1 on the backburner submission issue as well.

it doesn't happen all the time, and seems bit random.
just had to re-submit the job and things seems to run ok.
perhaps adding an IF job == statement to ensure a new job is created?

i remember when i was developing a backburner script, there were sometimes delay or just dropout here and there,
perhaps this is one of those things, where manager failed to create a job

About the backburner fail, when we are submitting 40 passes and start to crash in the middle, it's very annoying. In this project i'm doing I'm getting this error almost every time I wan't to submit the passes.

Hello - we are in the process of updating the backburner submitter. Stay tuned.

Also - have you tried submitting from the Vexus Node editor? The user interface is more advanced.

Thankyou I'll give a look.

another thing, I don't know how much of a bug is it but the, SUBSTRACT node only works if connected inmediatly after and ADD node?
I'll try to explain better with images.

In this case the flow might not have so much sense, but in a bigger layout configuration, I promise It makes a lot of sense. haha.
