CustomMXSNode possible bug

Postby mois.moshev » Thu May 03, 2018 7:35 am

Hi, we are experimenting with custom nodes for our workflow.

I think I just hit a bug with CustomMXSNode:
As you know the default value for its tag property is "Teapot".
Now if I write in the Maxscript field of the node:
print ($:tag.value as string)
The Max listener prints "Teapot"

If I change the tag textbox to *anything else* the max listener prints "undefined"
If I change the tag textbox back to "Teapot", the listener again prints "Teapot".
Sounds like a bug?
By the way this only happens for the "tag" field, it works fine for the numerical ones - Height-Min, etc.

I can't wait to see custom python nodes, too :)

Mois,

Thanks for your question. The problem is that "Teapot" is a class name in MAX, hence the reason why your code works.

What you should actually use is the following to print out the variable name: print ("$:tag.value")

Wow thanks, this worked!
I come from more regular programming languages, so using a string as the actual value seems... unusual :)
Still getting used to maxscript as a whole.
